About the Panelists

Nick Vanzetti, Senior Vice President, ESL Asia-Pacific Japan

Nick Vanzetti is the Senior Vice President of ESL Asia-Pacific Japan. A passionate advocate of the esports community, he has helped shape some of the region’s largest events & leagues. Nick has spent 19 years in the games industry, combining careers in project management and film & television prior to the commencement of his own company in 2011. Having grown the business quickly to be a market leader in Australia, an acquisition by the world’s largest esports company made Nick the head of ESL in APJ and now firmly focused on growth in Asia.

Luke Woolley, APAC Esports Lead, Business Development, Populous

Luke is the Esports Lead for Asia Pacific and drives business development efforts across South East Asia. He has a proven track record of leading successful strategic projects across the Asia Pacific region and has over ten years’ experience in production, design and project management. Luke is an experienced manager, ensuring the seamless development of designs from concept phase through to final delivery.

Having worked on various global sporting and entertainment events, Luke is highly skilled in delivering smooth pre-show and opening ceremony events including the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics, particularly the Opening Ceremony Land of Peace segment. He also provided technical direction for the Porsche launch event held at the Float at Marina Bay, which was for Porsche’s new Taycan car. This launch included a 200-drone show timed with the reveal of the new car and the partnership between Porsche and Disney.

Luke possesses exceptional drafting skills across a variety of design software, utilising these skills to create optimal seating bowl, arena and theatre designs. He is extremely passionate about exploring new technologies, utilising different mixed reality applications and technological advances. He has worked closely with brands across Asia on technology implementation and creating experiences for their consumers. Through this experience, Luke has realised his enjoyment for working with people of different cultures and values the opportunity to meet and work with talented people across the region and globe.

Chris Tran, Head of Esports, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong & Taiwan, Riot Games

Chris Tran leads the Singapore-based team in the areas of business development, esports league operations, management of Riot’s relationship with Garena, League of Legends co-marketing, and more.

Chris is focused on developing Riot’s esports efforts in the region, which includes management of leagues that cover Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Chris has over 20 years of experience in consulting and digital marketing, and has held leadership positions in the United Kingdom, United States, Switzerland, Canada, Thailand, and Vietnam. Before joining Riot, Chris helped lead the growth of the digital advertising ecosystem in Vietnam by pioneering advertising networks, DSPs and other leading-edge media platforms.

Chris is fluent in Vietnamese and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Biology (honors) from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Melisa Lee, Founder & CEO, Ploutos Strategic

Melisa has over 30 years experience in the finance industry specialising in ‘Financial Engineering’ – involved with the creation of novel ideas, structured products and customised solutions.

Prior to founding Ploutos Strategic, Melisa held senior regional roles in major investment banks (CSFB/CSFP, UBS, Morgan Stanley etc) based in several key financial centres (London, Tokyo, Hong Kong & Singapore).

Melisa also works selectively with Startups (mostly in the Deep Tech and Blockchain space), helping them to raise capital as well as facilitate connections with Asian business families for strategic partnerships.

Ploutos Strategic focuses on wealthy Asian business families and their family offices in a unique niche – providing independent and holistic strategic financial solutions for their family businesses.
